Marriage Divorce and Sexuality
There are many opinions being expressed about "Relationships" - what is best for the individual, for the family or for society.
There are also many representations of what sex is all about, so it is little wonder people are confused about what is right and wrong, wholesome and unwholesome, natural and unnatural.
Following the wrong advice can be devastating for the individual and for their nearest and dearest.
Rather than debate every viewpoint, the bible presents refreshingly simple and straightforward advice about what is best in relationships, marriage, family and sex:
"God made them male and female, as the scripture says. And for this reason a man will leave his father and mother and unite with his wife, and the two will become one. So they are no longer two, but one. No human being must separate, then, what God has joined together."
(Mark 10:6-9)
According to the bible, marriage is to be a life-long commitment between one man and one woman - a relationship that supersedes all others, that is so close that the couple are no longer considered to be two individuals but one and nobody has the right to come between them.
Husbands, love your wives just as Christ loved the church and gave his life for it. He did this to dedicate the church to God by his word, after making it clean by washing it in water, in order to present the church to himself in all its beauty---pure and faultless, without spot or wrinkle or any other imperfection. Men ought to love their wives just as they love their own bodies. A man who loves his wife loves himself.
(Ephesians 5:25-28)
The true marriage relationship is bound together by love. A love that doesn't consider self but which is willing to die for the sake of the other person.
This kind of loving relationship is the right environment for sex and for raising children.
So simple, so challenging yet so profound. This kind of family unit is the foundation for society as God intends it to be.
